800 A.D. - 1050 A.D. During the Viking age, Erik the Red lead his settlers to Greenland. In hopes to conquer other lands.

995 King Olav established Christianity as the country’s main religion

1350 Bubonic Plague or called the Black Death

1397 The Kalmar Union states that Sweden, Denmark, and Norway are ruled under one Monarch. This lasts until Sweden becomes independent in 1593.

1536 Norway is proclaimed a Danish Providence

1814 Denmark gives up Norway to Sweden. Although ruled by Swedish king, Norway adopts a constitution and elects king. After 14- day war Norway accepts king but keeps constitution.

1905 Norway gains independence from Sweden. Prince Carl of Denmark becomes King.

1940 Germany invades Norway and they occupy it until after WWII

1949 Norway joined NATO

1960 Norway discovers Gas and Oil, which boosts the economy

1972  Norway votes against joining the EU

1993  U.S., Israel, and Palestine meet in Oslo to discuss Peace in the Middle East

2000-2009 Norway acts mediator in solving peace in Sri Lanka and Tamils to seperate it.
